Who is barfi in movie

While logically their romance is rather obscure, in this weird fairy-tale setting of the film their love is shown gracefully and dignified. Shruti is the one who Barfi falls in love with at first. She is always at the effect of things happening around her, influenced by others and never making her own decisions. Eventually when she does make one, it appears to be too late. I assume it was a conscious decision of the director, to make a contrast for the other two characters, but I think it was slightly overdone.

The fact that her story does not end well is a strong point of the movie. Visually, the movie is very beautiful. I think the camera angles and movement really try to portray the different worlds of the three characters.

It has very nice soundtrack I especially love the song at the beginning of the movie, which actually breaks the 4 th wall, as it speaks to the cinema theater audience to turn off the mobile phones and not to disturb other people with its funny lyrics and fully uses the visual aspects of filming locations though some enhance digitally to portray the 70s, the time for most of action in film.

The asset that Bollywood movies have, largely being longer than Hollywood production, is that they have time to introduce characters, develop emotional attachment to them and then really move the viewer with a strong culmination. It is a brave movie that touches a sensitive subject of disabilities. Skip to content.

My favorite dramatic scene of the movie. Since there are few dialogues, it does get boring at times. And on many occasions, one does not comprehend what one actor is saying to the other in sign language.

Additionally, the first half of the movie tends to drag as the story moves forward very slowly. And although the sound track is refreshingly sweet, one wishes that the songs had been spaced out. Since Barfi! October Issue Movie Review: Barfi! October 26, Cover Story: Judiciary in the Dock On September 17, lawyers across Pakistan went on strike in condemnation of the controversial amateur….

She also falls in love with Barfi but her mother dissuades her from pursuing him because he could not take care of her with his disabilities and lack of money. Shruti takes her mother's advice, gets married, and moves to Kolkata , breaking all contact with Barfi.

Meanwhile, Barfi's father falls ill and Barfi must somehow raise the money for his treatment. After an unsuccessful attempt to rob a local bank, he tries to kidnap Jhilmil Chatterjee Priyanka Chopra — Barfi's autistic childhood friend and wealthy heiress of her grandfather's fortune — for a ransom.

Upon arriving, Barfi finds she has already been kidnapped. He sees her in a van, sneaks inside and drives Jhilmil away from the ransom delivery. He hides her in his apartment with the police in pursuit. Barfi collects the ransom, but finds that his father has died just as he makes the payment. Dejected, Barfi tries to leave Jhilmil at the village of her caretaker, but she refuses to leave him and they soon move to Kolkata, where Barfi assumes responsibility for Jhilmil and takes care of her.
