The answer lies with a simple tool called pizza stone. A pizza stone is a portable cooking surface that is designed for cooking pizzas while mimicking the effects of a brick oven.

Commonly made with ceramic, stone, or clay, the pizza stone has a porous nature that allows it to absorb moisture from the pizza, which results in a crispier crust. To find out, we preheated four baking stones in four separate degree ovens for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 1 hour, respectively. Once the stones were preheated, we baked pizzas for exactly 10 minutes on each stone and examined their undersides for browning and crisping.
